he's not your father [!]

I'm halfway through my Nighmare On Elm Street Marathon. "Halfway", haha. I'm on movie 5, but am, at night, at bedtime, watching the ends of the ones I fall asleep during over again. The third one is my favorite and I'm still trying to get through the end of it awake. So tonight after the fifth one is over I'm going to watch the end of the third and the end of the fourth... Oh, yeah, and the end of the third. They're good bedtime movies for me.
I always save the first for last. And I will NOT be watching Freddy vs. Jason. I watched it a month or so ago and re-remembered how much I hate it.
Anyway. I've been spindling some yarn. I've actually spun some singles and plied them together, and my yarn looks like watermelon-colored intestines. And I love it. It's wound up right now soaking in some wool wash and I will hang it to dry in a little bit. I love wool wash.
I want to go to bed and knit my panties, but I think first I'm going to frog that sweater of Odin's that isn't turning out how I want. I've found a better pattern anyway... For something he's much more likely to wear. Odin isn't into pullovers unless they've got Transformers on the front. =]

I'm really proud of myself. Last night I "spun" the yarn and it looked ridiculous, and that's what I get for not actually investigating about spinning first. Today I learned about drafting and actually spun the right way. I've also learned how much easier it is for me to spin while Odin's on the playground than for me to knit. I can manage to divide my attention so that Odin gets the larger half and my yarn doesn't get angry with me.
My lovely new porch chair is good for having a nice time in too. I moved around the porch "furniture" today and now we have two defined areas: Odin's spot, which has his pool, his table and chairs, and soon will also have his tent; and Mom's spot, which has all the plants, a chair to put Horus' cage on when we take him to visit the other birds, my chair, and a table for my begonias and a cup of tea. I've stolen my WIP basket to be my spinning basket, and it currently contains all my remaining fiber and my spindle.
What am I going to knit with my new yarn? With my own new yarn?!!?!? I have no idea. Probably something I will use constantly, or something for a lovely gift. I wish I had spun enough to make one of the hide-your-sex-toys pillows from Naughty Needles. My MIL would LOVE that. I could probably make her a condom critter from the aforementioned book, but I don't want to. =]
I want more fiber! I want a new spindle! Well. I don't *want* a new spindle, I just wish mine had a groove to sit the yarn in while I twist. I bought it to learn on... And I learned that I want a groove! I thought make your own groove. Then I realized what a shitty idea that was and that I'd ruin my spindle if I did it myself. Then I thought glue on some buttons and run the yarn in the center of them. And maybe I will try that option.
At any rate, movie 5 is over, my cup of delicious tea (thank you swapner) with delicious honey (thank you MIL) is finished and it's probably time for me to squeeze my yarn a little and hang it up. I am SO FUCKING EXCITED. I'm going to hang it in front of the window in hopes it dries quickly.
Maybe if it's dry in time I can knit a coffee sleeve for Nicky for part of her birthday gift! She has mentioned how much she wants one. She definitely needs one. Because I still owe her her Yule mittens!

I'm so bad.
