Gluten-free pancakes always leave me wanting something... More. I dunno. Not that I'm gluten-free as a rule, but at the Limited Grocery Store in town it's hard to find organic stuff that isn't gluten-free. So here I am, eating pancakes I dislike.
Maybe next time I'll look harder for pancake mix. Actually, that's a lie. Next time I have to buy the Hungry Jack kind (which always makes me think of mashed potatoes) because Jon will be HOME. !!!!! Omg.
So, anyway, it's Wednesday but I'm off work and it looks sunny and nice outside but I can feel all this horrific sinus pressure. I think that being situated here, stuck between the mountains, is what's making it worse for me this year. Once Jon and I live someplace else things are gonna be much better for my cranial cavities.
The fact that the internet doesn't work properly also leads me to believe it will rain very soon. Not that I have a scientific reason for this belief, but every time it won't work it rains and then it works again.
I would really love it to work so I can buy my knitting pattern and so I can *not* also buy some more yarn. I think that really I don't want to buy more yarn right now so much as I want to buy Ysolda's books. I've been feeling really sweatery lately (let's not point out that I haven't finished a sweater since February and I have two OTN currently), and I just... I just want to have the books because everything in them is so sweet and lovely and I WANT TO KNIT ALL OF IT.
So, yes. I want to finish my candy-striped sweater. I've been planning out the striping a little, but mostly just going with it. 3/4 sleeves should make plenty of yarn for an extra-long torso on the sweater and plenty of yarn left over for either some slippers for my Odin or some more squares for his Doom Blanket. Or both.
So really I should knit that up stat. I really want that fucking sweater.
And then there's Mrs. Darcy, which I only have sleeves and finishing left to do. I love that sweater.
I'm almost finished with Gretel, but I caught myself in a snag and I don't feel like ripping back rows so I set it down for now in favor of spinning. ! I would just like to say up front that I was not ready for bamboo. Not Ready. But it looks nice, even though it's in three pieces right now (one is extremely long, but two smaller bits toward the beginning of what I spun separated at the joins. I'll be able to just make smaller lengths of yarn with them and my other yellow merino single, but I'm still sad). I've got the merino to finish spinning so I can ply them. I've never plied so much yarn before and I'm not sure how I'm gonna accomplish this... But I'm smart. So there.
And after that I have more roving!
Because I received my swap box.... So I'm doubly annoyed that the internet won't work, because I want to message my swapner and tell her how much I love everything and because I want to post my pictures on Ravelry, and because I want to see who else got their boxes!
I received some kickasssssss stuff. Some gorgeous roving in blues and purples that makes me think of mermaids, a whole bunch of gorgeous butter-colored sock yarn (I don't have the skein with me, but I think it said 440 yds!) that's very cottony, but with nylon and other goodies inside. Perfect for WV-is-hot-as-hell knitting =]
She sent me the greatest pattern book I have ever seen in my whole life, for 80s-tastic sweaters. Without the assistance of the Mighty Internet I can't date it, but it's definitely fabulous and I really super love it. I've already got plans to knit some of them (slightly altering the necklines and the ultra-tight sleeve and bottom ribbing) actually. I absolutely fucking love this book! I also got a great pattern for socks for flip flops, they have a separate big toe. Much simpler than the toe socks pattern I found on Ravelry and never found the enthusiasm to knit. These, though, definitely. Toe socks annoy me after awhile, having something between all my little toes. Ugh.
And I got a lovely card of Turkmenistan and a book of Celtic tattoos (which Odin is going to love wearing one of and I think are gorgeous, and I am planning to use them to chart out some cables for a bag for my Tarot cards). And I got a planner! I have a place to write all my wedding crap! Omg. I've already got a whole two weeks filled in, and managed to finally look at the weeks Jon is here and plan for things accordingly. I'm so happy. And a stationery set with a fairy! Gorgeous stuff. I love stationery. I also love the brownie tart recipe, which I am going to make and then convince Jon to buy me a tart pan so I can make it again ;)
There was also a gorgeous ring that's been on my finger since I opened the box, adorable stitch markers that profess my madness for knitting (also which I super needed! I hate my split-ring markers, and though I bought a ton of them at MDSW I have boxed all of them up for my swapner lol), and a wonderful cd (which I really enjoyed) inside a two-disc crochet cd case.
And so right now I'm sitting here waiting for Odin to finish some more of his breakfast, letting him watch The Spiderwick Chronicles before we venture off to the post office and the bank. And the park? Maybe. We'll have to take the annoying way on the way back because we can't cut through the soccer field if they're having practice... The fuckers.
I'm having some Very Strong Coffee and only a bit of that horrific pancake. My nose aches because I re-pierced it last night and promptly decided I didn't want a nose ring anymore so I took it out. I also re-pierced my tragus and my conch, though the CBR I want to put in my conch is too big to cram in there right now and I've got a substitute chilling inside my ear. This does mean I will always have to wear braids at work now, but I don't much care. I'll only be there another six months. I will definitely have to wear braids after I get the tattoo in my ear. Which I'll do eventually. After I pay off some bills probably.
Yeah, anyway. Maybe I've rambled on long enough? I have a post office to get to and a check to cash and now that I think about it it would maybe be better to go to the bank that is nearby and just go to the post office while I'm on my break at work tomorrow. That way hopefully either the internet works so I can get someone's address I need or something sent to me will arrive and I'll have it that way.
At any rate, I really need to put some clothes on. And see if it's sweltering outside or not.
^^^^
So all of that was written this morning before I took off to the bank, the grocery store, to getting locked out of my apartment, to dinner, to the landlord's, and back here.
I've gotten my package from Victoria's Secret, full of goodies (panties and lotions and sparkly pink eyeshadow and stuff like that), I got cherries and strawberries and some soy for my coffee, I had a bacon cheeseburger that matched Odin's hot dog in greasy-diner goodness while I read the Early Fall 2010 Vogue Knitting (omg) and dealt with the Bitchiest Landlord Ever. I ordered the pattern for Scott's sweater, and some clearance yarn so I can make a soft white hat to match my scarlet wool coat.
Technically I should pay my electric bill now, but I'm also going to check out the prices of Ysolda's books (since I was going to buy a book on webs, but didn't in favor of Ysolda). And check my mail. And make dinner? I dunno. We'll see. Odin and I are watching Coraline.
